Bob Kutschbach, owner and broker of Carleton Realty, discusses what you need to know about buying and selling a home during the holidays. While the market can be a little slower during the holiday season, it does not mean that you should put off your home sale or search. Many buyers are in a position where they need to find a home during this time, due to employer transfers or other employment situations. These buyers are the most serious buyers, which is great for sellers. Lower inventory also means less competition for sellers.
There are a few important things for sellers to remember during the holidays. It is so important to make sure that your decorations are seasonally appropriate. Your Thanksgiving decorations should be replaced by another winter holiday soon after. Your holiday decorations should not be up for long after the new year. Your listing pictures should also reflect the change of seasons. If you have fall leaves in your photos and now it is mid-January, the pictures should definitely be updated.
