Bob Kutschbach, owner and broker of Carleton Realty, thanks the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (the Realtists) for their new slogan designed to help young people on their path to home ownership. First the House, Then the Car.
Why is this new slogan important? Because too many young people buy the expensive car before they buy the house. That higher car payment can prevent them from purchasing a home! If the young people did not have the car payment then they could qualify for a home or more home. So our advice is to drive the less expensive car when you are trying to be a homeowner. Buy the car after the house and you may be surprised to find that you can buy the same car after you purchase the house but not the other way around!
