A recent Zillow study showed that the Columbus housing market is the fastest selling market in the U.S. Homes are selling in a median of 5 days! The national median selling time is 22 days. Columbus is followed closely by the Cincinnati and Kansas City market which are selling in a median of 6 days.
The number of homes that have sold has fallen slightly. Though this is not an indication of a lack of demand but rather a lack of inventory. At the end of June, there were only 2,600 active (not in contract) listings in the Columbus MLS. Just one year ago that number was 4,700.
Home prices are on the rise due to this historic shortage of homes for sale. In the first 5 months of 2020, home prices were up 7.4% compared to the same time last year!
